Quality Constructions maintains a firm commitment to fiscal responsibility and the efficient running of all accounts.

The accounting is all done in house, led by qualified accountant Kim Reeves, who has worked in chartered accounting for the last eight years. "We hired her because she's the best," says Daniel Clark company director.

Quality Constructions keeps the books tidy on all administrative issues:

- payroll
- debtors and creditors
- weekly cash flow forecasts
- monthly balance sheets
- business activity statements
- ongoing tax preparation

Quality Constructions uses a state of the art accounting software package called Bizprac Toolbox. Specialised for the building industry, the program helps the administrative team calculate GST, issue financial statements and send out invoices.

"Our free quote contains a full breakdown of all costs," Kim explains. "Once the client approves the job, they are given a job number and we're underway."

All work carried out by Quality Constructions is invoiced according to progress. Once a deposit has been received, a sample timetable of invoices might look like this:

- initial stage, including surveyor's fees and insurance
- demolition stage
- excavation stage
- initial building stage, including structural wall framing and brickwork
- lock-up stage, with the fitting of all windows, doors and roofing
- interior stage, including gyprocking and fit-out
- final stage
- completion
