Home Builders Sydney | Quality Constructions

Daniel Clark is aged 36.

Daniel grew up in Willmot, in Penrith, and he still calls the area home. "I guess it's convenient. I've always been there, I've got a lot of friends and family in the area."

Daniel's parents ran a family business. His father was a pastry chef, and his mother worked behind the counter in the shop. Daniel grew up watching his father rising every morning at three in the morning to start baking and preparing the pastries for that day. "I guess that's where I learnt about hard work," he says. "Doughnuts were the shop specialty," he smiles.

"I used to get up early and help Dad. I was always around fixing things up for him in the shop," he explains.

Daniel first was interested in construction back in high school. After topping his grade in metalwork, woodwork, arts & crafts and design. "I guess that was the start of it all." After school, Daniel got his apprenticeship with Proline Building Services, and the Master Builders Association were he completed it in 3 years, one year ahead of the tradditional apprenticeship.

Daniel has also completed an Advanced Building Supervision Certificate, and holds an unrestricted Builders Licence. With Quality Constructions Daniel has also run through a number of courses sponsored by the Housing Industry Association of Australia. These include Contracts Administration, Better Business Management in the Home Building Industry and Occupational Health and Safety Induction Training for Construction, Project Management accreditations, time management, understanding BASIX and Microsoft Project Training..

But at his next job, Daniel was shocked at the practises of the company he was working for. He watched his boss routinely cutting corners, not turning up on time, defaulting on suppliers, and leaving behind a string of unhappy customers. "It was a very unhappy experience," he said.

It was then that Daniel met James Mason, who was also discontentedly working for the same company. Over a beer one afternoon, the two decided that enough was enough. "We saw how unhappy the clients were," says Daniel, "and we just knew we could do it better ourselves." And thus Quality Constructions was born.

"I just want to see a satisfied customer. I take pride in it. When they say they are happy with the job, I'm happy with the job." Daniel is so fastidious about his work that his colleagues poke fun at him for it. "They complain that I'm too fussy, when I'm telling the guys to pull something down and do it again. But in the end I always get a perfect result."

Daniel especially loves the feeling of creating more room for a family, adding another floor to their house or extending out the back. "I guess I like it because it means their family is growing, and you're helping them to do that."

Maybe this is because he can relate. Renovating his own home, his wife and himself have recently completed their own First Floor addition. "To be honest, we're planning for another child," he grins.
